Ask HN: How would you improve discovery on YouTube/Spotify?

Looking at spotify, youtube and all the online media libraries, don't you feel like there's no real discovery mechanisms?

Imagine all this great content on youtube, you might only be seeing %0.001... How many unknown amazing artists on spotify that will never show up in front of me? It's all about searching and browsing which is not enough when you have too much content.

So, beside a simple "check what my friends liked" feature, how would you improve discovery on Youtube or Spotify?
