Ask HN: How does your local development environment look like?

Just curious to know how other devs do local development around the software they are building, be it a monolith, service oriented, event driven architecture, running in vms/containers around an orchestrator, k8s most likely.

Is your local environment as close as production, or you run everything on the host, or you develop in containers but deploy on k8s, how do you solve issues around that.

Would love to hear what works for people, interesting caveats around it etc
