True progressives are out there fighting current battles. Corruption, bribery, current-day slavery etc. Conformists are out there marching about battles already won like gay rights, slavery in the United States etc.

It's about power and is using something people are very unlikely to disagree with to grab at power.

"We're anti-racists, therefore if you oppose us or our actions you must be racists".

"We're anti-fascist, therefore if you oppose us or our actions you must be fascists".

And it's very effective. Just look at the choke-hold it has corporate America in, in particular, at the moment.
