Some of the criticisms look... odd. In particular, why just Primer-BLAST of all to check the primer sequences?

There are other tools out there for that kind of calculation, and to make sure it weren't an algorithm-specific problem they should also have used others.

The link is to a retraction paper that was submitted last Wednesday. If the paper is accepted there will no longer be a covid-19 PCR test.
