Actually, why there is no startup build around that. It let people rent their servers. Think of AirBnB for servers. Is there something like that?

I don't know if I'd trust most applications just randomly running on my physical machines. Maybe if there was some kind of sandboxing environment. You could probably build something like with with k8s and docker

Vast.ai does to an extent. It works for academics. Enterprises are risk averse, and reliability sucks when too many people and systems are involved.

It feels like you’re describing “the entire cloud industry”. AWS, Azure, Google, DigitalOcean, Linode, etc are all doing pretty much exactly this.
