MacBook Air future-proofing: do you get the 8gb or the 16GB?

Lets say you just use Chrome with 20 tabs open, and some productivity apps. No gaming or VM or video content creation. 256 GB is enough RAM.

You want your Macbook to last 5 years.

Do you get the 8gb or the 16GB version?

16 GB if you can afford. Yes it's always a pain to pay a premium for RAM now, but you have no idea how much memory will your apps consume or how much what you do on your device will have changed in 5 years.

You probably meant disk.

I'd feel more comfortable with 512, but it starts to get very expensive.

Thanks - its more the wait time than the custom order. I'll go for the 16gb then.
