I had a brief friendly / neighbourly exchange of comments with (at 4 sigmas of certainty) a well-known sci-fi author a few months back, not long after reading two of their novels set not far from where I live. I’m not prone to celebrity worship, but that was a treat. It’s also a reminder that we (with the benevolent and not heavy-handed guidance of the mods) have created a relatively functional society here, which is all too rare in the world.
