Not Gas fee is one of the most challenging obstacle of minting NFT, not everyone is selling there NFT for millions of Dollar.

Do you think Shift to Ether's shift to POS will change things?

PoS doesn't change the chain throughput AFAIK so fees would not change. Try Avalanche.
