I'm struggling to find decent 4k laptop, am I alone?

I bought a 4k touch zenbook 4 years ago, I've expected 4k to be next common upgrade. Yet here I am, 4 years later we have 4k 5" phones, but the vast majority of laptop are still FHD. If you want a 4k laptop, you have to spend more than $3.000, what's going on?

You can get a 4k laptop from Costco for less than $1k (HP Envy): https://www.costco.com/CatalogSearch?keyword=4k+laptop&dept=...

But at 15", 2880x1800 looks perfectly sharp to me, so I wouldn't benefit from 4k. Maybe some folks have better eyes or sit closer to the screen?

But why? I have a 4K monitor and it's just enough space on a large screen for code. I play videos and games on half the resolution because it's not worth the speed cost. An undocumented downside is screensharing on 4K to a small group will crash Google Meet.
