Ask HN: Are fTPMs inherently less secure than discrete TPMs?

fTPMs are the TPMs sometimes built-in to CPUs. Discrete TPMs are when the TPM is its own chip. fTPMs theoretically seem questionable, but I'm out of my depth and know nothing on this. Thank you!
