Something tells me there’s hardware engineers on the AR/VR team at Apple chuckling at news stories like these reading filings like tea leaves and not remotely getting close to predicting what Apple plans to do.

Possibly.

Given there was a post about the AirPods Max by one ex-Apple engineer that was in development for 4 to 5 years after the original AirPods [0], my guess is that Apple is at most 5 years ahead of everything that they release to us.
