Top or Bottom?

It depends on the way you are using/placing/storing/holding the phone. If you're putting the phone in a pocket, it's best to have the port on the top. If you're holding the phone in your hand, it's best to have the port on the bottom.

The Highlander Law doesn't apply here.

I just prefer that the headphone jack be on the same side as the charging port. That way it can be stood up in that orientation regardless of if stuff is plugged into both.

Never thought about it, but mine is at the top and now I realise I would prefer it to be at the bottom. Something new to be dissatisfied about - thank you :(
