This is the law in countries that base their territorial protection on reservist army. Total war is their only option against aggressive and larger enemy.

I'm guessing you only watched the first fews mins of the video on Russia. It's hard to see what propaganda value there is in explaining how Russia has a weak economy and wants to capture Ukraine's oil and gas industries.

It's always been the case that men are enslaved for war. The last 100 years of feminism didn't stop it and another 1000 years wont either.
