Incredible yet unsurprising. I once met a woman who had been at the U.N. 20+yrs when I gave a talk at a U.N. event in Kenya and at lunch I asked her what impact she'd had with the work they'd done. Her response was essentially (as I don't remember verbatim), I have no idea if any of the work we've done has had any impact. Further interactions with folks involved with the U.N. have continued to leave me unimpressed. I'm sure there are many fine and well meaning people there, but as an institution I cannot say I've seen much worthwhile.
