Ask HN: How do you save web articles for later reading?

A lot of the suggestions here are selfhosted. Mine are not.

The simplest is to use your browser Bookmarks/Reading List [1] feature. The best next free popular mobile/ereader friendly option is https://getpocket.com/en/

https://github.com/gildas-lormeau/SingleFile It encodes image media in base-64 and produces an HTML single file.

And, if I want to remove parts of the page, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/print-edit-we/olnb... which can save in MHTML format (one file, a zip archive container).

Another alternative is the paid level of pinboard.in, which essentially makes an archive copy of every page you bookmark and tag.

(And for all I know, there may be self-hosted versions of pinboard.in with the archive feature.)

I used to have a hosted version running at https://closetab.email but couldn't keep it running. Will look into hosting it again :)

I use Safari's built-in "Read Later" action.

If I want to save a page forever, I bookmark it. If the title isn't descriptive I change the title or add keywords. To find a bookmark I search my bookmarks.

I don't organize bookmarks into folders because it's unnecessary.

I post them on my blog and use labels. Sometimes I'll also write a short description.
