I thought the front page's "platforms" and "videos" section were very good. Got me quickly to the search box and I was watching vids about volcanoes in no time.
That's like asking AWS's landing page to have a live database environment embedded into the website. PeerTube explicitely links you to example videos and channels to showcase the platform. If they just embedded a video you wouldn't understand the scope of the project
