Except that's a part of comedy. Pete Davidson makes jokes about his dad dying in 9/11 all the time and they are hilarious. Just pointing at a shitty thing isn't comedy, you have to actually write a joke.

I think it is possible Godfrey did that on purpose just to set up the audience for his Aristocrats.
