A few years ago at an American university a non-traditional student who was honorably discharged from the Navy and who had a security clearance eventually went to work at Northrop Grumman after graduating. He married a chinese foreign exchange student right after they graduated. I remember one instance where she came into my room and pointed at my social security card on my desk and said that I should not have that laying out. My immediate thought was how does she know the significance and why would she care? My other thoughts were along the lines of how much pillow talk is being leaked through chinese foreign national's significant others. Another instance during the same time period there was a chinese foreign exchange student who had a driver license printing machine and was selling out of state fake IDs to other students. My thought to that was how many US students are in China selling fake IDs to their classmates over there. My Chinese-American friend said "Zero" because they would be found out, put in jail, and not released until a bribe was paid. I am happy to see the US "shoot ourselves in the foot" in this case. I am not sure we should be teaching the Chinese how to achieve quantum supremacy considering they are walking all over us while preventing us from walking over them.
