This is the type of push to address systemic inequity that just makes good sense. In engineering, competent grasp of CS concepts and mastery of code (via leetcode etc) is usually sufficient for entry level roles. Why shouldn’t the same be true for other STEM fields?
Many here may be surprised to learn how many disadvantaged communities in the US just don’t have calculus. When I was in high school, I had to take a bus to another school once a week for tutoring on self-study algebra 2 coursework because my high school didn’t have enough room that year (by the way, I was a junior). The plot of Stand and Deliver is all too common even still in 2023.
