I suspect the downvoting is more because of the tone of your comments rather than the content. From the HN guidelines:

> Please don't comment about the voting on comments. It never does any good, and it makes boring reading.

> Please don't use Hacker News for political or ideological battle. That tramples curiosity.

> Please don't fulminate. Please don't sneer, including at the rest of the community.

A lot of people on HN care deeply about AI and I imagine they're totally interested in discussing deepfakes potentially causing regulation. Just gotta be careful to mute the political sides of the debate, which I know is difficult when talking about regulation.

Probably not. Much more likely that your comment was useless. Like this one. It has nothing to with "picking sides", "being right" or "calling it".

Given how long you've been here and your selective replies, I have a hard time taking your comment in good faith, though. It does read like sarcasm and trolling.
