On my synology ds418j Tailscale was faster than WireGuard over the same interface. WireGuard used 30 to 50 percent more cpu. Was strange, but not a real problem. Just an anecdote.

Tailscale userland go WireGuard implementation is often faster and uses less CPU that the kernel one.
