My quick answer - Search is extremely complex, adversarial, and has billions of dollars at stake. There is seldom such a thing as "solved" for anything with those three attributes.

I agree. However, I felt all the solutions in this space have converged to offering similar user experiences.

I personally wouldn't mind having the memory feature[1] in ChatGPT integrated with my search engine so that the results are more related to my task.
