Hi Hackernews Community,

Have long been a fan of yours.

Waited long to perfect my video/audio translation product as a solopreneur. Now, we have a testable product with 10,000+ monthly users.

We are not perfect yet but we provide a ton of features. We provide AI-generated subtitles. We let the user edit the subtitles and timestamps. User can edit the translated audio/video unlimited times without additional fees. We are in the process of making voice cloning free for all users, hopefully completing this weekend. We are launching a chrome extension and mobile app too.

Though we already get 10k users each month, we are offering the product to be tried out at a heavily discounted price tag so that we receive as many feedbacks as possible to become the best in the market.

Currently, we are marketing only through organic avenues like SEO, being a bootstrapped company. We have created landing pages for each category : https://videodubber.ai/translate-video/ , https://videodubber.ai/translate-audio/ , https://videodubber.ai/translate-subtitles/ , https://videodubber.ai/translate-voice/ and then for each language like https://videodubber.ai/translate-spanish-audio-to-english/ .

Recently we concluded our translation efforts making most of the website links available in spanish and shifting the whole site to next.js (a heavy technical debt changing from flask and ninja2 to next.js)

We are at 700 clicks each day. Majority of these clicks convert to a free account but free to paid conversion is wayy less right now at less than 1%.

We have done many analysis to find out why but failed to pinpoint exact reason. Turning to you, the Great Hackernews Community, to solve this mystery.

Most of our competitors charge 10x our price tag and offer similar or lesser quality(internal evaluation). Still, our conversion rate is less than 1%.

Need to seriously solve this mystery to stay afloat. We are making a ton of new products and training a text to speech engine to better vocalize sentences with contextual emotion. But these initiatives need fund which we lack until we solve this conversion mystery.

I just tried out the website. Good work on english to tamil translation! May be, adding some software tours like microsoft clippy will be useful for new users increasing conversion.

Thanks, we are in process of doing that. We will add a software tour for the new users so that the user knows about different parts of the app and is familiar with all the features to play with.

The simple UI looks great and the processing speed is better than most. It would be great to have a simple video-editing interface to edit videos on the go.

We are adding a video editing interface similar to veed to help our users edit their videos adding new sounds, gifs, text and images, right inside the app.

Thanks, we love to bring the Saas cost down while offering better quality to our users. However, the conversion ratio still needs to be improved. Do you have any specific comment on that?
