I've been anxious about this for the past couple of years, to me the biggest challenge is that if you end up affected in the first few waves you face a real uphill battle: the stigma of unemployment or marginal employment will still very much exist, the cost of living in your general income bracket will still be based on the assumptions that most households are two earners on full wages, and macro adjustments (UBI? Mass re-training? other large scale policies?) won't have been implemented yet. I could easily see mid level white collar workers never be able to recover and fall down several pegs in their standard of living.
