They (and linked articles) discuss a proposed broad 60% tariff on Chinese goods, but Taiwan is not China, so I'm not sure where GPU imports is impacted. They speculate that China may decide to blockade Taiwan in retaliation for broad tariffs but that's speculation too.
If anything, they--which includes xAI and other obviously heavy donors who want the flow of silicon flowing--should support free trade with Taiwan and support its protection from its neighbor. A tariff on Taiwan goods would be disastrous to many US tech sectors.
