Warp has been around since 2020, i.e. since before the generative AI craze took off.
Every HN thread about it that I've seen has been full of comments that boil down to "this seems cool but I refuse to use a terminal emulator that's full of telemetry and requires sign-in."
And of course the VC-funded terminal emulator has AI shoehorned in now. I shouldn't be so surprised.
