I was recently banned from Facebook Marketplace for no clear reason (some AI algo going wild) and it’s been a huge pain. I live in Thailand where basically everything is done through Facebook
I suspect it might’ve happened after I took a trip to Vietnam—maybe something flagged my account as suspicious? But of course, there’s no real way to talk to a human. I even tried signing up for Meta Verified just to get proper support, but that didn’t help either. The responses felt AI-generated and they just told me I need to talk to the “commerce division,” which isn’t something a normal user can actually do.
To make things worse, my entire Facebook account was banned too (not just Marketplace), and only got unbanned a month later after I sent them one of those video selfies of my face—because of course that’s how things work now.
Anyway, I’m at the end of the rope here. Is there any kind HN reader who works at Meta or knows someone who does and might be able to help me get this fixed? I've even tried making another account with a new computer and it gets flagged/banned in hours. I'll leave my FB profile/email in my bio praying here basically.
