This is a revenue generating move for going after wealthy taxpayers that don’t use TurboTax.

Direct File doesn’t enforce accuracy or detect fraud; it facilitates how returns are submitted.

Isn't direct file the sort of efficiency that we elected Trump (who brought in Elon as DOGE chief) to find and promulgate? Reducing red tape and costing citizens less? This seems like terrible optics.

2. Propaganda works.

3. Everyone else is overworked to the point of distraction.

Trump took advantage of these three facts to advance an agenda almost no one agrees with.
