Gershwin: OS X-like desktop for BSD (opens in new tab)

I wonder if the name Gershwin is a reference to the planned successor to Copland, which was intended to be the original Mac OS 8 before it faced development hell and was ultimately cancelled in 1996, leading to Apple purchasing NeXT?

I guess this brings it full circle, from OS X heavily adopting its interface from CDE.
