Gesture recognition via ring form factor is interesting but I wonder about the practical use cases beyond novelty. The core value proposition of smart rings is still passive health monitoring (HR, SpO2, temperature, sleep).
What I find more compelling in the ring hardware space right now is the addition of microphones for sleep-breathing analysis. A ring with an onboard PDM mic could detect snoring, sleep apnea events, and breathing patterns without a bedside device -- something no current ring does well. That seems like a more defensible product feature than gesture control.
