I mind ads and don’t think sites would go away. They’d just be less profitable.
I mind ads because they crowd out less profitable margins and result in worse products. Imagine how nice and useful Google could be if they optimized for search instead of ads.
And even if you pay for the product - a business model where the incentive should be for them to make the product better for you - you still get greedy executives who decide to try to juice their revenue with ads (cable TV, streaming services, etc)! I don't know what can be done, but honestly ads have gotten to be an intolerable business practice.
