You're also correct that third‑party apps can't fully lock a child inside the app — iOS doesn't allow that for security reasons. However, parents can use Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access). Once enabled, the device stays in one app and needs a passcode to exit. We recommend turning it on before handing the tablet to little ones.
