Ask HN: What tools do you allow journalists to use?

If you're a developer at an online media firm (be that engadget or the New York Times), what tools are you allowing the journalists or content managers use to get their pieces online.

Where I currently am, we're starting to use ckeditor for the main bodies of text but i'm wondering if anyone has extended something like Windows Live Writer to work with their own backends or other offline word processors extended for use with the backend?
