No I did not, you are correct that could and would make a difference. Though no mention was made that stoof out too me regarding VAT. Indeed do the $ prices include any form of TAX/VAT/sales TAX?

No, they do not. It's a form of price advertising deception that I'm glad is outlawed in most of Europe.
