Will enterprises, Apple, and issuers will support FIDO standards?

Trying to determine if issuers (financial institutions) or enterprises, and Apple would support such authentication standard.

I unnderstand that NFC as a standard has been around for sometime however given the lack of support from Apple and now diminishing support from Merchants, in addition to few more factors, the NFC uptake has been less than stellar.

Given devices like Samsung 5 may provide such capability, will it be enough for the market to adopt such technology?

Like to know thoughts and opinions of experts on this.
