"If you consider this email to be spam, we are very sorry, but this really was not our intention! This is a systematic email where we identified you from a subset of users based on your contribution." Apologizing while you do something doesn't make it OKAY. They realize it's spam, otherwise they wouldn't have suggested and apologized as such.
