In the 19th century industrialists used to build towns for their workers[1]. This seems like the 21st century equivalent.

I find the whole idea abhorrent, people would be working then handing their wage back to their employer for their food, rent, utilities etc. It seems very dystopian.

Then don't live there? I don't believe FB has any plans to make living in company owned housing mandatory.

The housing is not limited to employees, nor are employees limited to this housing.

Problem is, that area is enveloped by bumper-to-bumper traffic on both the U.S. 101 side and the CA 84 (Dumbarton Bridge approach) side. And CA 84 to the west just dumps into U.S. 101 anyway.
