Ask HN: Should I Use GrapheneOS?

I'm planning on getting a Pixel 8, and was looking at GrapheneOS which looks great on paper, but I've recently found out that the project lead is going through a hard time mental-health wise due to some drama[1][2].

So my questions are: What's the current state of the project? Would you recommend it? Have all these drama issues been resolved?
