This purple color everywhere is looking vulgarly excessive, causing eyesore to me. MS Teams refuses to adapt system theme. Search engines changed link color to purple (unvisited). Bing links are dark purple. Google is doing the same. Are they killing the pleasant blue color? What's happening?

I saw a clear trend in recent years. Almost every software is using purple color for its branding and main themes. While I'm not against the color itself, the sheep mentality of UI designers (if it was their decision), to blindly copy a single color, appears silly. Let me be honest - the color looks nice only when used for things in the foreground, and looks pretty ugly if you pour it all over a webpage or software.

Opinion: In the name of freedom, Western cultures are vehemently becoming anti-children and anti-family.

Human progress is not about freedom alone. It is about playing your role assigned to you by the nature, by assigning a gender and family for you. It is about family as a creature, not you, the individual, as a creature.

Hope the humans of the so-called developed countries get it.

Being a fully democratic country, the policy makers should do what people wish for. Does that mean people do not want to change this stupid constitution which might have made sense when the country was wilder and people needed to be armed? No wonder the country is full of crazy people inside and outside the government.

Managers are outsourcing their work to teams, in the name of democracy. They ask the team to come up with goals and direction for the work, which was actually the job of the manager. Effectively this results in someone from the team making decisions on behalf of the manager though he is not a competent authority to do so, leading to poor decisions. Managers believe that this approach has benefits of democracy, empowers the team and makes them more committed to the work etc.

However, a business org with roles is different from the political voters without roles. Organization roles have an accountability for the decisions made and they are expected to be experts in their domain. A voter in a democracy is not expected to be accountable for his decisions (there are no wrong votes) nor is expected to be expert in choosing a leader. A democracy is not meant for making decisions at work in an organizational context.

I came across a job definition today in my LinkedIn job feed. This is kind of a startup job, but the descriptions appear to be very thinly veiled from their real intentions. The lines with * are my interpretations.

- Those who use the word "impossible" are asked not to disturb those who try * you will be asked to do the impossible and crazy stuff, but don't complain - We don’t reinvent the wheel, others have already done it before us, so we reuse as much as possible * you should copy code from random github repos and complete work in 5 mins - Work smart, not hard * if you work overtime, its your fault. don't expect compensation - Work should always be engaging * you should immerse yourself full time in work - We hate silos and break them with full transparency and communication * no clear role boundary. you need to do everything - We are not building tools but solutions * you are responsible for overall project or solution, thugh its not your role - We continuously improve by removing waste * you can be fired any time - We put our users first and generate value for them before all * you won't be paid until our users are happy and pay us - We anticipate change and are adaptive * We don't know what we are doing, but don't complain - We focus on attention to detail and precision in everything we do * You don't have scope for mistakes and corrections
