Its no secret that the software job market doesn't look too good right now. I would like a stable career that can support my future family. Should I switch while I'm still young? If so, what should I switch to? If not, how can I prepare myself to succeed?

Context: I will be starting my junior year as a computer science undergraduate in the fall. My current plan is to found a tech startup through my university's startup incubator my senior year. After graduation, the plan is to continue to grow the startup if it works out, or if it doesn't, pursue a software engineering role at another company.

My school has a program where students studying software, product management, and design team up and create a real tech startup over two semesters. I'm studying software engineering. What should I look for as I try to find form a good team?

3-4 years ago, several HN submissions of the Framework laptop got 1k-2k+ upvotes. I'd like to ask those of you who got the laptop: does it live up to the hype? Will it last you longer than any other laptop? Did any paint points emerge? If you had no laptop today, would you buy the Framework laptop again?

I would like to know how long you have used it, and which model you have.

My college offers Bachelor's degrees in computer science with the option to emphasize in software engineering or machine learning. I find software engineering more interesting because I want to learn to make apps and websites. However I have heard that it has become more difficult to find a job as a software engineer. On the other hand there seems to be a lot of demand for machine learning. I do find machine learning interesting, but not as much. Does it matter? Will I have significantly more/better job opportunities in machine learning than in software engineering?
