I know that many companies and many data analytics or data processing solutions are in cloud and many can be also found in online articles. However I believe that there are many companies that can't use cloud and they have to do everything on their private, isolated infrastructure.

Also there are companies that don't have to deal with "big data" but they do need some data analytics solution, either batch or stream, probably for such companies some lightweight setup is enough.

I'm interested to hear how these companies/teams have built their data analytics/processing solutions, using what technologies etc...

The parts of the stack that are most interesting are:

1. What do you use for ETL (how do you import data to your warehouse)?

2. Do you have any kind of data quality reporting?

3. Which DB(s) you use?

4. How do you present your data?

5. What are the pros and cons of your setup?

I have an idea for a SaaS product which I would like implement and maybe later monetize and to sell internationally. I tried to read about the topic but as more as I read the more I'm confused. How to do you sell your SaaS products and how do you deal with tax and other legal obligations?

I'm interested to see what worflows and tools other people use for Database development - more precisely, SQL Server database on Windows.

I've heard lot of stories about people switching careers to software development but I didn't find too much stories where someone did opposite. I don't take into count switching to the management roles. Last few months I started to realize that writing code in bad environments, where the budget and requirements from non-technical people are deciding everything, is killing my creativity and my home projects are suffering because when I come home I feel exhausted, tired and unmotivated.

I have also other skills which are enough to find completely another type of job. In that case software development will be a real hobby and I would be able to do things that I like and love.

Everything is nice and shiny when you think about that, but the reality is pretty much different and is not easy to do such thing. I would like to hear some other opinions and experiences.
