I'm curious to hear of experiences running distributed filesystems like glusterfs or ceph (others too?) on Digitalocean's block storage.

I've got a side project that will be continuously adding many 50kb to 20mb files, so easy expansion is necessary.

Any "at-scale" (ie. production, under real load) performance reports/benchmarks appreciated.

Reliability, recovery from node failure, etc comments welcome.

I'll state up front that I know nothing about botnet formation, architecture or the like.

Simple question: is it possible for operating system manufacturers to send out an update (forcibly, preferably) that detects and disables networking on infected machines?

Alternatively, would it be possible to send out an OS update that could detect infected machines and report back IP address communication to/from the machine? This could possible be processed (in a 'big data' fashion) to narrow down botnet control paths?

I'm sure there are any number of ethical/privacy related reasons against this sort of action but we're speaking hypothetically.

On Python's Wall of Shame/Superpowers[0], gevent[1] is the module that prevents me from moving my Python/Django web projects to Python 3.

For those of you who previously used gevent and have ported/migrated Python web projects to Python 3, have you simply refactored out gevent in favour of synchronous or asyncio-based code? Or have you found a good replacement/gevent fork?

Note that there is a new project that hasn't seen very much traction yet called guv[2] which aims to be a Python 3 gevent replacement. It's quite early however.

From the lastpass download page, I installed the contents of https:// lastpass.com / download / cdn / lpmacosx.zip (de-urlized, for public safety)

My browsers were all hi-jacked, links taken over - lots of 'searchmadeeasy.com' linking (particularly on stackoverlow.com and viewing stackoverflow.com results in google searches) and http:// macsecurity-alert .com (de-urlized again), which is pretty obviously a malware phishing type site.

I never get caught by these sorts of things, and only downloaded lastpass on the recommendation of colleagues. Only by uninstalling lastpass were the issues addressed.

Anyone else seeing this with recent installs of lastpass? Infuriating that what I thought was a respectable company/product is desperate for cash to hijack browsers.
