I built a lightweight React guided tour library after finding existing solutions too heavy or limiting for my use case. I open-sourced it six weeks ago, but haven’t seen much adoption or attraction yet.

I'm curious to hear from others who’ve released developer tools how it works and if I should be patient with it?

The reason I want this to work is not for monetary gain, it's open source and will always remain as such. I just thought it would be nice for my resume to have a widely adopted tool, and to validate my idea for it.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people build quick prototypes with AI lately, kind of “vibe coding,” and producing unsafe, unfinished, and unusable apps. The ideas are great and they work in a demo sometimes, but the moment you try to put them in front of real users things start breaking. So I decided to create a service around helping people take those prototypes and actually get them ready for production.

I’m calling it ReadyApp https://readyapp.io/. The idea is pretty simple: if you’ve got something working in rough form but it crashes under load, looks bad on mobile, or just isn’t reliable enough for users, I’ll step in and turn it into something stable and launchable. I’m not sure if this is just a niche annoyance I’ve noticed or if other people here have felt the same pain, so I wanted to put it out there and hear what the HN crowd thinks.

Does this resonate with you? Would love any feedback or thoughts.

I worked for a German company that didn't pay me for 5 months, during that period payment was always late, then it didn't come for two months then I was let go, which was good for me since I was going to quit anyways and if they fire me I get a three weeks severance, but after they let me go, they emailed that they will pay me then cut contact for the last month with 0 news. I'm not based in Germany or Europe so suing is a bit hard, which they know and are ignoring me probably for that reason. I am now trying to reachout to lawyers and see if I can start a case against them, but I'm wondering if I should contact their investors to put pressure on them, or share my story publicly on their social media.

I honesty don't know what the best course of action is in this case since I never had this happen to me in my whole career. Any advice?

If you were to take two positions as a team lead for two different companies working with different techologies, how would you make sure you make it work?

I've been looking for Elm jobs for two months with no luck. Why is there such a shortage in Elm development jobs?

The Elm slack jobs board only gets one or two jobs a month and most of them are for beginners or offering ridiculously low pay.

Should I just go back to React?

I've been a remote developer for 11 years, and I'm currently making around a $100k/year. I've interviewed for a few other companies but it seems like the ceiling is at around that level.

Have you encountered better compensations for remote devs or is this really the ceiling?

Does being an Elm developer improve my chances of being hired since it's a niche technology, or will it hurt my career for the same reason.
