Programmers in the US Postal Service have union representation. This union also represents accountants. Members have the option to join the union or not join the union. Either way, the union negotiates wages/benefits for programmers and accountants.

I understand the benefit for unions that represent lower skilled workers and skill tradesmen. However, it seems absurd there is a union that represents programmers or accountants.

We can discuss the problems in the news section if there's interest.

But for now does anyone else know of other unions in IT?

Hi, I'm planning to visit Silicon Valley soon as I'd like to check out the startup scene. Are there guides/recruiters or fellow hackers that are available to meet for a few hours to discuss the latest happenings, places to live, culture, etc..?

Isn't it obvious that FB wants to control the entire Internet? FB seems to steal ideas from small startups instead of buying them out. As they grow larger every day, they are killing innovation. Are there any others like me that realize what's happening and are willing to fight this cancer?
