I would love to finally move away from iCloud. Files and the rest is easy to replace, but not Photos so far.

One reason: I love to scroll through my Photos on the Apple TV. I cannot believe no-one created a comparable experience on this platform yet!

Has anyone recommendations?

I am currently working for a StartUp, earning decently well. Unlimited vacation days and very high salary. I have an offer from one of the better known tech companies I always wanted to work for. However, this comes with 35% less salary than I am making now.

Any one experienced with this decision? I think it would boost my CV, and let me work with nicer people overall. I don't really like my colleagues, and it's a stressful environment currently to work in.

The difference is due to the fact that I work for an US based StartUp and not living in the US, so the exchange rate advantage applies here. The new company has an office in the country I am living in, and therefore slightly worse benefits and lower salary overall.

As everyone here probably, from 2010 to 2020, it took me not more than 2-3 weeks to land a new job, and could probably have 3-4 offers in that time span. I am an experienced Engineer, 15 years, published books.

When I am applying now, 50% of applications through direct job posting yield no response. I go with recruiters and have a 99% chance of getting to the second step of the interview.

After that, no matter how well the coding challenge went, I get a rejection with the reason: "Someone has more exact skill overlap", "Not experienced enough" etc.

I am applying at around 15 jobs, and have yet to get one offer. And if people think that's not a lot. I am talking about 15 jobs where I am going through at least 3-4 steps, all at the same time.

I see more hiring and higher salaries in the Blockchain space (And AI slowly) than any other field. Bigger names like Cloudflare, Red Hat etc. don't even answer my application.

What do you folks do to handle this situation? I am skilling up every day at work and started more side projects to learn from, but get rejections nevertheless.

Any strategy you employ to get through this? Any end in sight?

Not sure if that‘s the audience here, but after 15 years in the field, I am loosing appetite for the ever repetitive nature of software engineering! Now I switched stacks (did Mainframe, Backend, Frontend, Systems Engineering, p2p…) But all companies I consultated for or was emoloyed with were winning or failing not based on technology, but product market fit etc. None of the technical choices made a huge impact.

Did someone here move from IC to a technical product manager role? If so, can you recommend readings/courses or actions you took? The company I work for now has mentioned thar if I am open to lean more to product, I can allocate more time towards that! However, I am not sure how exactly I should get more involved in, and how to skill up or what I can contribute to have an impact!

I used WISE (Transferwise) for more than 5 years now. I live in Europe and had US clients in the past. Now a simple transaction from my WISE EU account to my local bank account is paused for more than 3 weeks, and in the last year or so, my whole account was put on pause to “proof my legitimate business”.

I am too afraid for my account being shutdown, and I can’t accept pausing transactions for this long. I started paying taxes through this account and pausing transactions result in fees.

So long story short: Which options do I have to receive international payments?
