I recently learned about css variables, and am wondering what any real downsides are from the field. Seems to remove the need for an extra preprocessor step with sass or whatever.
I am looking for really good examples of fairly complex data visualizations that work well on mobile device - phones, tablets. My own experiences with working for that platform has been a bit disappointing. Yes, it could be me, but this got me to wondering how good can it even be. When I thought about it, I couldn't remember a pleasant experience with any non-trivial data viz on a phone/tablet: even if accounting for responsive design, the sluggishness was so distracting that I would just make a mental note to look at it on desktop later.
I have seen that Mozilla is playing with VR, and I think Chrome. I am curious how good the experience is versus "native" (i.e., not a VR-enabled web page). Basically the same?
