What are some other examples of solo founders making end to end systems without any bloat and later making it big?
P.S.: Needn't be only software projects.
Are there books suitable for SELF STUDY that don't water things down but actually teach programming in any language? By not watering things down, I mean that the student doesn't just learn a bunch of libraries or frameworks and after finishing the book doesn't know how to solve problems on own.
If you are someone from that gang, what did you learn from SICP that really caused this transformation? What did it do differently than other programming languages or CS books?
Have you had similar experiences with other books (Lisp based or not)?
If there are university courses that they should probably learn from point to them.
Also if there are repos, tutorials, walkthroughs you want to mention?
Some of the resources are so good that they bend your mind completely in a good way and you find out new avenues of thought and learning. You fall in love with a subject and pursue further.
I have two favourite courses for programming:
1. How to Code 1 and 2 by Gregor Kiczales on edX. They are based on the book How to Design Programs
2. Brown University's Acclerated Intro to CS course by one of the authors of HtDP: CS19. You can find it here: https://learnaifromscratch.github.io/software.
I have two favorite math books that have helped me understand more math:
1. Introduction to Logic by Alfred Tarski
2. Vector Calculus by Hubbard and Hubbard
What are yours?
Has it worked for you? How?
How was it?
