I'm putting a presentation about RAG systems right now, and I'd like to be able to point to a number of companies that are built and are currently running RAG systems in production.

What Machine Learning books would you recommend for experienced Software Engineering getting into the field? Looking for both applied (implementing ML/AI tools into existing stacks, etc.) and theoretical (understanding the math behind algos, etc.) books.

I've been building Rails, Python, Node and, you name it, frontend JS web app development for the last 12 years. I think I've gotten too bored with the same challenges that app development presents. Has anyone made the official career pivot to the ML/AI field? What did you have to do? Did you have to start from a lower-level entry into the field?

Where is everyone moving to and from? And why? My partner and I are trying to figure out where to go. She's a doctor and I run a small fully-remote software development firm.
