Public-access models are useless by design?

Game theoretically speaking:

Anything that can give user a meaningful economical competitive edge is deemed as unethical to be served via (OAI) endpoint.

Impactful research is too valuable to be released as arxiv paper.

So the community incentive is to release massive amounts of barely useful toys (papers and hf models) for resume padding purposes.

I’d say it’s almost as cringe as blockchain

It’s basically like having a really dumb person that spews out word salad fast. We had dumb people before LLMs.

Currently it’s the only thing that keeps optimism up in US economy propping up soft landing and tech investment..
