Hi. I'm contemplating the idea of a Saas business, a LDAP as a service : a LDAP server and a web interface for account admin and users self servicing (password update/reset with tfa, account editing, org chart viewing, directory index..)

The idea it to help medium sized orgs to centralize credentials for third party solutions (like every oss project with LDAP integration) and reap the benefits : better security, less admin tasks, etc. It won't be something like a captive portal, or a complete SSO solution.

Each customer would get its own VPS instance with the solution deployed on it (LDAP server, web server..), for $149/m.

Suggestions ?

I'm thinking on an rsync storage+nginx static file serving with dedicated disk space and bandwidth, all pseudonymous. Any idea/comment ? Thanks!

MedicLib ( http://www.mediclib.com ) is medical literature search engine that rank and categorize articles from Pubmed/Medline ( http://www.mediclib.com/about ). The goal is to be helpful to physicians by filtering noise and boosting landmark papers in the results (still in progress).

I plan to add fuzzy search, enhanced filters and also a new datasource, the FDA drugs descriptions.

Any comment, question, or suggestion is welcome.

Medrill ( http://www.medrill.com ) is a medical search engine that indexes and ranks medical research paper abstracts based on a subtle blend of known metrics (citations count, journal and authors impact factor..)

This is still work in progress (like any search engine...), I plan to integrate medical ontologies to get better results, and I'll also integrate soon some specific filters aimed at physicians (like systematic review, clinical papers).

The stack is quite simple: Java, DropWizard, PostgreSQL, Lucene

Next step is the harder: get physicians/specialists use the search engine.
